Seniors may be feeling overwhelmed with the decisions and challenges awaiting them after graduation. In retrospect, recent Capital graduates offer reassurance on their positive college experiences and their optimism for the future. Eric Anderson, director of Career Services, offered some statistics to support this optimism.

Volunteering a viable option

With thoughts of a shaky economy and piled up college loans weighing heavily on those fresh out of college or about to graduate, it seems that many students are considering an alternative: service volunteering. Wednesday, October 22, Career Services hosted an on-campus Service Fair, in order to give Capital students the opportunity to talk with various volunteer organizations, both locally and nationally based.

Health center offers flu shots, wellness tips

It's that time of year again when the sounds of coughing and sniffling become as common as leaves rustling on the ground. Just like the holidays, cold weather is around the corner, promising to make the flu more prominent. Students wishing to make it through the last stretch of the semester must take care of themselves.

Forum hopes to ameliorate commuter concerns

Commuter students often face problems when they walk into class late after trying to find a parking spot for half an hour, or when they try to find a futon to nap on between morning and afternoon class. Residents often have a difficult time empathizing with commuters.

Steam leak sets off alarm, gives students rude awakening

"It sounded like a bomb siren," said sophomore Lee Clements. "If we were getting bombed, I think that's what it sounded like. Then there was some inanimate voice that came on the speaker that told us to go outside immediately." It was an unexpected early start to the day for Clements and many other students after a fire alarm went off last Tuesday.

Wall Street meets your street

Economic matters have taken center stage in political races at all levels. Significant changes in both national and international economies are bound to affect individuals participating in those economies. But what do the current shifts in the United States and world economies mean to Capital students? Saurav Roychoudhury, assistant professor of economics said, "[I have] no doubt that the ongoing financial and economic crisis has affected everyone.
