Miss Beth Sharb's constant release of little red herrings to swim around the issues at hand surely reveals a promising career in marine biology, if not journalism. But why does the editor of the Chimes so blithely fail to address the issues? The answer is unclear.
As I understand, the Chimes and Greek Life haven't seen eye to eye on everything. I also understand the need for a story, having written for and studied various newspapers myself. However, since I am helping to hold the reins of Greek Life this year with our new Greek Life advisor Ryan Elizabeth Hilperts, I feel like I need to clear up a few things.
In regard to the Fall Sports Recap in the October 8 issue of The Chimes, I have a serious problem with the entire concept of the article (editorial). As a former Chimes reporter and captain of the men's golf team, I have even more invested interest in it.
Let me start out by saying I am probably one of the most morally conservative students on campus. I'm a Christian woman, and my greatest goals in life are to love and serve God with everything I have and to encourage my family to do the same. Yes, I think the place in which I most belong is the home; yes, I believe I should "submit to my husband;" and yes, I find the sex column of the Chimes to be repulsive.
