Think twice: where does the holiday money go?

The Salvation Army even spent millions of dollars, all donated by the public, lobbying the White House to change a federal law to allow them to fire people for being gay or transgender. It is amazing to think of a group that was founded to help the poor spending millions of dollars trying to secretly influence the government just so they could express their hatred towards a group of people. Those funds could have kept dozens of food pantries open for several years and fed untold numbers of hungry families in the process.
I believe The Salvation Army, overall, has contributed to America substantially but the time has come for them to draw down their anti-gay political agenda, to do as Jesus would have, and ensure their charity is offered to all who seek it, regardless of their sexual orientation, and to allow gay and transgender people to work and volunteer for them if they are qualified to do so.
There are many great charities that will be offering the public a chance to help the needy this holiday season without spreading anti-gay hostility, such as the Volunteers of America, Faith Mission, Charity Newsies and Capital's Student Social Workers. Giving these groups your charitable contribution of a little time, money or some basic items is a great way to make a difference and spread holiday cheer this season.
People should direct their charity toward groups like these until the Salvation Army is willing to live by another Bible verse when it comes to their positions on the gay and transgender community: "Judge not, that ye be not judged" (Matthew 7:1).

You make a number of allegations that are not necessarily backed up by or supported by facts.
I am a supporter of the Salvation Army and have not been aware of them being anti gay other than that it is their belief that homosexual behavior is a sin based upon the bible. (Continued…)

I also do not donate to the salvation army because I have had several yard sales with nice things that I have tried to donate to the salvation army and they said it was not valuable enough to them! Come on now! Lets be serious, I am sure a needy person would mind alot of the items that we had, that we could not keep any more do to storage reasons. (Continued…)

I think that it is good that the Salvation Army raises funds around the holidays.

"the time has come for them to draw down their anti-gay political agenda, to do as Jesus would have"
That is quite a claim to make. You are quite confident you speak with His voice, and that your interpretation, and yours alone is valid? More than that, that others are not even ALLOWED to feel (and act, regarding the right to fire people from my private empty) otherwise?
I wonder if you should agree to feel likewise bound by my personal interpretations, of whose truth I am similarly unshakeably sure. (Continued…)
