Capital University's PRSSA organization is hosting a 5k run/walk throughout the Bexley community beginning at 9 a.m., April 5.

"Whether you smoke or not the 5k is appropriate for everyone," Rachel Pickering, PRSSA vice president, said. "If you do smoke, the campaign isn't about telling you to stop; it's so that future college and high school students have a program that cares about their choices."

"We're hoping that by doing a 5K, Capital's students will recognize the importance of living a healthy life style, and how they may be a role model to someone important in their life," Jamie Woods, PRSSA president, said.

President Bowman is scheduled to participate in Saturday's race.

"We are so excited for President Bowman to be joining our cause," Pickering said. "We really appreciate his interest and his willingness to be involved and hope that the Capital community comes out to see if they can keep up with him."

The students involved in Capital University's PRSSA organization are participating in a public relations competition pitting Capital's PR staff against 13 other colleges in Ohio. Each PR team around the state was granted an initial budget of $8,000 and the 5k run/walk will be the last campaign of the year for Capital's student PR staff. The campaign preceding the 5k run/walk was "Capital's Next Top Model," a modeling competition won by senior Jenna Alge.

"The total Debunkify campaign has been very successful on campus this year," Woods said. "We've seen this through our Web site hits, as well as the survey at the end of last year's campaign."

Those interested in participating on April 5 should register at http://www.debunkify.com/capital. For more information, contact PRSSA President Jamie Woods at jwoods@capital.edu.
