Perhaps the greatest player in Capital soccer history signed a deal with professional football club the Dayton Dutch Lions.
Stephen McCarthy is the all-time leader in both points and scoring in the Ohio Athletic Conference, set the record in 2009 for goals in a season with 24 and has even trained with the Columbus Crew.
McCarthy led his Crusader teams to OAC championships three times in his four seasons and earned all-region honors three times.
McCarthy joins six other players signed by the club Friday, who will all be on the roster during the team's inaugural season.
According to their website, the Dutch Lions' first game is April 30. McCarthy will be at home in Dayton, where went to high school.
